In the biting cold of North India’s winters, thousands of stray dogs struggle to survive, unseen and unheard. But in the bustling city of Gurugram, one man refuses to look away. For the Love of Dogs follows Jagjit Singh, a businessman/humanitarian whose simple yet groundbreaking idea—heated beds made from discarded industrial drums—has saved over 15,000 stray dogs from freezing nights. What began as a single act of compassion has grown into a grassroots movement, inspiring people across India and beyond to take action.Through breathtaking visuals, heartfelt rescues, and deeply personal moments, the documentary captures Jagjit’s unwavering dedication, the challenges he faces, and the lives he transforms—both human and canine. At its core, the film is a tribute to those who act when no one is watching—people who see worth in lives that others overlook. Shot in real environments with raw, unscripted interactions, the film captures the spiritual bond between man and animal. It is a call for urban empathy and a reflection on how cities can become kinder—if only a few brave souls step forward.

DIRECTORS STATEMENT

Writer, producer, and filmmaker Mohnjeet Kalsi brings heartfelt narratives to life. With a background in storytelling and compassion-driven cinema, this is her first full-scale independent documentary under Ajooni Media.
For the Love of Dogs is more than just a documentary about stray dogs, it’s a story about kindness, resilience, and the impact one person can make when they refuse to turn away. When I first heard about Jagjit Singh’s selfless mission, I was struck by its simplicity and power. In a world that often overlooks the suffering of voiceless beings, here was a man who saw their pain and took action—not for recognition, not for reward, but simply because it was the right thing to do.Through this film, I wanted to capture both the struggle and the beauty of his journey—the freezing nights, the silent suffering of stray dogs, the challenges Jagjit faced, and, ultimately, the warmth that his act of compassion brought to so many lives. This documentary is a reminder that change doesn’t always come from institutions or policies—it starts with individuals. It starts with one person choosing to care, one act of kindness, one small ripple that grows into a wave of hope.I hope For the Love of Dogs inspires audiences to see strays not as forgotten creatures, but as companions, survivors, and beings deserving of love and dignity. If this film moves even one person to take action—to adopt, to help, to show compassion—then its purpose has been fulfilled.

For the love of dogs is a documentary about Jagjit Singh and his compassion and kindness for the voiceless souls. Jagjit Singh has handcrafted over 15,000 heated shelters and counting for strays braving the brutal North Indian winters for over 7 years.

Jagjit Singh – "Start with love. Even the smallest act of kindness can create a ripple effect. Together we all can change the world. One stray at a time!"
